Lyndsey Snyder

Howdy everyone!! Are you all ready for the New Year?
It’s that time a year where everyone is thinking about what the New Year
will bring, everyone has a few plans to be made and goals to be reached. I
know I have a few, and I'm just getting started!! But first let me introduce
myself!
My name is Lindsey Snyder and I am 20 years
old soon to be 21 in March!! I graduate from Philomath High School in 2004
and went into working reception at The Corvallis Clinic as the main
receptionist for the urology department. I have been there for about two
years now, but I’ve been thinking that maybe reception isn’t for me. I
really like to work with animals. While I was in school I worked part-time
at a vet clinic as a kennel attendant where I got to be around animals all
the time. I would really like to get back into that but as a large animal
veterinary technician instead. I plan on attending either OSU or LBCC this
coming fall. And hopefully landing a career where I get to be around horses
all the time!
My parents are Lionel and Betsy Snyder; I
have an older sister Wendy and two younger siblings, Jenny my other sister
who is currently serving in the Army in Missouri. And we can’t forget my
brother Brandon. We are a pretty decent sized family!
I have been a member of WHO
for eight years now, but I have been riding ever since my dad brought home
Tinkerbelle (a little bay ornery Shetland pony) that I got for my 5th
or 6th birthday. I was so excited…I was always one of those kids
who had her head in the clouds dreaming about horses! But Tinkerbelle wasn’t
the sweet little thing that her name makes her out to be! Oh no! She was the
most spiteful, mean tempered little pony you’ve ever met! Bucking, kicking,
and rolling while I was on…but she never scared me off, if anything she
helped me to be brave. We didn’t keep ole Tink around for too long before I
was promoted to riding horses where jumped around a little before I settled
with my current horse Abe. I had it in mind from the day I knew the
difference between horse breeds that I HAD to have an Arabian; this probably
comes from growing up on stories of the black stallion! My dad found Abe in
the newspaper, so we went to see him and I took one look at him and knew I
had to have him! He came home with us that same day! I have been riding him
now for about 4 to 5 years through 4H, high school equestrian team, and WHO
and he has taught me a lot of things, one of them being how to respect your
horse.
But enough about me!! I’m so
excited and proud to be able to represent this wonderful family oriented
organization! I hope you all have a full fun packed year in 2007!!! I wish
everyone a Happy New Year!! Ride hard but play safe!! And I’ll see you at
the shows!!
